Russia’s mobile operators see rising popularity of Clubhouse app
MOSCOW, Feb 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s largest mobile operators have registered increased interest in social network Clubhouse, whose audience is rising by the day, spokespeople for the companies told PRIME on Wednesday.
“Over the week of February 8–15, traffic in the application jumped by 550%,” Yota Marketing Director Dmitry Rudskikh said.
MTS said traffic on the platform’s podcast and online radio has become noticeable in Moscow.
VimpelCom, working under brand Beeline, said the application’s audience is rising every day. “The highest rise of the audience took place on February 14 and amounted to 72% in comparison to the previous day. But since the application is available only for the users of the iOS devices, it is still early to compare the dynamics with penetration of other popular applications,” the operator’s spokesperson said.
T2 RTK Holding, working as Tele2, also sees the service’s popularity. “It is hard to foresee how sustainable this interest will be. We’re still tracking feedback of clients of the new product and we’ll decide on free access to Clubhouse depending on demand,” the company said.
Clubhouse is an invitation-only audio-chat social networking application launched in 2020 by software developers Alpha Exploration.
